FROM YOUR EXECUTIVE BOARD
June 13, 2006
Bargaining Update
The Union and Company met today for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes in negotiations. The Company finally presented the Union with a counterproposal in response to the Union’s May 24 comprehensive contract proposal. Although we did reach tentative agreement on 4 more articles of the contract (tentative agreements proposed by the Union on May 24), we are sorry to report that otherwise the Company made little movement in its contract proposals. We ask you to draw your own conclusions why the Company is moving so slowly.
Election Update
The Labor Board has scheduled a pre-election hearing for June 22, 2006. The election itself will be scheduled sometime after the 22nd. Today, the Company was presented with a formal, written request to voluntarily recognize the IAM as your bargaining representative. This request was based upon the fact that the IAM has received signed authorization cards from more than 50% of all AEIF bargaining unit members. The Company offered no response.
