With the approaching Emerald Ash Borer and the predicted loss of hundreds of trees in our city, the city of Middletown along with Miami University, Bulls Run, and numerous volunteers are taking a pro-active stance to "replant Middletown".
FREE Trees for Middletown Residents50 Trees will be given away by the Middletown City Tree Commission. City residents can receive their free tree on October 6th from 9-2 at the tree nursery, located in Smith Park.
Boy Scout Troup VolunteersThere are many different species of trees available and volunteers from Middletown Boy Scout Troop #20 will be on hand to help deliver and plant the trees for residents who require assistance.
Trees will be given away on a first come/ first serve basis to city residents.
You may contact Miami University in Middletown, Botany Department Head, Dr. Carolyn Keiffer (513) 727-3243 to reserve a tree or for additional information.
Adoptive Tree Guardians Held Responsible for 2 years"Adoptive" guardians are required to sign an agreement promising to water and care for their tree for the next two years.
One Tree Per FamilyAt this time, we are only able to provide one tree per family. Trees grown at the nursery have been cared for by volunteers from Bull's Run, Tree Commission members, and student volunteers from Miami University Middletown. Grant funds to maintain the tree nursery have been provided by the Barnitz Foundation. October 28 is Middletown Arbor Day Observance Arbor Day will be proclaimed with a Burr Oak tree planted in the new prairie at Bull’s Run on Sunday, October 28 at 3:00. The public is invited to Middletown's Fall Family Festival, “A Celebration of Trees”.
