Butler County Fibre Ring Costly! |

Middletown, Ohio (MUSA)-Accessing the Butler County Fiber Optic ring, will not be cost effective for most businesses. More importantly, it will not offer any greater bandwidth than what is available right now!
The problem lies in connecting to the fiber. In order to connect, expensive devices and wires need to be purchased and maintained or leased.
According to Greg Sample, Area representative for Ameritech, "By the time you add up all the costs, the savings are just not there. You will actually pay more than what you pay now, with no additional bandwidth." One exception: if you have multiple multiple offices along the ring you can use the fiber ring for an internal company (IP) voice and data network.
For the vast majority of businesses, this plan is just not cost effective. |
