Candidates for Middletown Mayor
Monday, October 29, 2007 9:15:53 AM - Middletown Ohio
by Bill Rogers

Larry Mulligan believes we need to focus on our efforts in sharing the fine things Middletown has to offer. He also believes we need to work on developing our roads and city infrastructure.

Nick Kidd believes that economic development can only work through making Middletown attractive for businesses, as well as building bridges with other area municipalities and organizations and try to work together to improve the quality of life for all Butler and Warren county residents.

Paul Nagy believes that Middletown has more quality of life amenities than almost any other city of equal size, and we are losing them because we have run into a time of economic hardship. The key, he thinks, to working through this is to get new, proactive minds onto city council.

Merrell Wood has founded multiple area organizations to improve the qualify of life in Middletown, and wants to bring the city back to the state it was in when he moved here 17 years ago.

Fred Sennet believes his previous experience in the office of Mayor as well as his ability to find consensus between not only the residents of Middletown but city council as well is his greatest asset.

I attended these forums that you keep showcasing - I find it interesting how you re-finesse with your written words what the candidates actually said...with the exception of the ones that Middletown USA obviously supports.
This website is more of a "blog" for the webmasters than a source of information surrepticiously entitled, "Middletown USA."

I merely summarized what each candidate had to say, and I counter that I didn't put any sort of personal political slant on any of the statements. I'm not sure where you're coming from.

If you'd like to explain yourself further, feel free to make use of our forum, which is better suited to this type of discussion.

Thanks for your comments. If you have visited MiddletownUSA often you will know there are numerous “webmasters” who from time to time will have a personal opinion, but for the most part those opinions are kept to the Forum portion of this site.

Bill Rogers, who replied above, writes 90% of the video summaries and his goal is to parse the content of the video down to a few sentences to give the readers a concept of the video. Bill, like most of our staff, is a young man in his 20’s who does not personally know, or have any vested interest in any candidate. It should also be noted that he writes the summaries with out any influence from management.

As you implied the website itself is rather new and has a rather small, but growing, base of readers. It is our hope that the community will get involved and our webmasters can act more as traditional moderators to keep the discussion threads on topic and free of any unwanted content.

Should you at any time feel that something we have reported has a particular bias than please join the MiddletownUSA Forum and call us on it. As that is the type of dialogue that will help educate and inform the community as to all sides of the debate at hand.

Thanks for your input,

Andrew R Wendt
