CAPOZZI’S CHARITY GOLF CLASSIC TO BENEFIT LOIS “TOT” SCHULTZ

Golfers will “Tee Off For Tot” on Sunday, June 5, 2005 about 12:30 p.m. at Weatherwax Golf Course in Middletown, Ohio.

Teams may now register for the event by sending a check made to Charity Golf Classic, c/o Fred Finney, 3204 Barbara Drive,   Middletown, OH 45044. Fee to play golf is $85 per golfer or $150 per couple.  The golf event will be a four-person scramble with shot-gun start followed by a dinner at the golf course. Non-golfers may attend the dinner only for $15.

A special guest event at this golf outing will be a “Beat the Pro” opportunity with Mike McGee. . McGee is a former PGA touring pro who will challenge each team to hit a ball closer to the pin than the pro. Golf fans will remember Mike as the Madison High School golfer who became Ohio State Champion in 1976 and was on the Ohio State University 1979 team winning the NCAA championship. He won the Middletown City Junior Golf Championship three times and the Middletown City Golf Championship three times in his amateur career. He was the PGA golfer who set the PGA tour record of 18 putts for a complete rounds of 18 holes – an average of one putt per hole --  at the St. Jude Federal Express Classic in Memphis, TN in 1987. His record still holds.  McGee now owns the Mike McGee Golf Facility and Teaching Center on West Alexandria Road near the Weatherwax Golf Course.

The first annual Capozzi’s Italian Restaurant Charity Golf Classic will help defray the mounting medical expenses for Lois “Tot” Schultz, one of their favorite customers, who has ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).  The annual event is designed to assist a local Middletown family with unusually high medical expenses. Tot Schultz is undergoing experimental treatment in an attempt to control the usually fatal disease.
