Part 2 - MIDDLETOWN
As both Hamilton and Middletown aggressively work to revitalize their respective downtowns, CHAPS instituted a multi-part Downtown Revitalization Tour. Part I highlighted Hamilton in Spring 2013. Part II will highlight Middletown on Saturday, May 3, 2014.
The tour will kick-off with lunch at Murphy’s Landing (formerly Stained Bistro) in the Beau Verre Riordan Studios Building (Broad Street and Central Avenue). After lunch (ordered individually off the menu, if desired) and a presentation on downtown by the new Downtown Manager Amanda Buckholder, a walking tour to four sites will follow:
1) Sorg Opera House & Commercial Building (under restoration)
2) Middletown Building and Deposit / Goetz Tower (planned for conversion to market-rate apartments)
3) Masonic Temple (new home to Arts Central Foundation)
4) Pendleton Arts Center for "Second Look" Saturday
At each site, representatives from each rehabilitation project will be on hand to provide an interior tour and highlight the rehabilitation work undertaken or planned, and the goal for the end use of the properties.
Tickets are $6 and can be paid at the door. If possible, please RSVP by email (contact@butlerpreservation.org) or phone (513-267-4433) to ensure availability, as only a limited number of attendees can be accommodated at the restaurant. Registration/seating begins at 11:00 a.m.. All members of CHAPS and the public are encouraged to join us to meet downtown’s new manager and see exciting projects in progress!
