CITY OF MIDDLETOWN NAMES CHARTER REVIEW COMMITTEE
Fifteen Middletown residents and registered voters were selected by City Council to serve on the Charter Review Committee: Christopher Amburgey, Kent Bradshaw, Tom Brickey, Jamey Colts, Kent Ferguson, Fred Gibson, Wanda Glover, Rob Hoffman, Joe Mulligan, Paul Nagy, Paul Nenni, Dan Picard, Mike Scorti, Dick Slagle and John Soppanish.
Every ten years, the City Charter is reviewed by a committee of citizens who recommend changes that may be needed as the needs of the City change. Members are to consult with experts and consultants of municipal government, inside or outside the City as well as citizens to decide what, if any, changes are necessary.
The group’s goal is to complete its work by May 5, 2009 so that any recommended changes can be on the November 2009 ballot for citizen approval.
Citizens are encouraged to contact members of the committee to suggest changes to the charter.
Betsy Parr, Clerk of Council, and Les Landen, Director of Law will serve as non-voting members of the committee.
Copies of the current charter are available online at www.cityofmiddletown.org/docs/council/cityordinances.pdf ( pages 11-26) or in the City Council Clerk’s office in the Middletown City Building.
