Message from Bill

As we work through these next few difficult years we must continue to look within the city, making sure we are the most efficient we can be and yet respecting and compensating our employees for their good work.. As we work to improve government, we must be sure we use good common sense and communicate fully with the public before taking action.

Reorganization/Streamlining City Government-Middletown must find ways to reinvent government. We can no longer afford to continue to do business as usual. Costs of government,  many over which we have little or no control, will continue to escalate.

Competent and adequate public safety forces are expensive. We must be creative and make sure we are spending these dollars as efficiently as possible.

We must look at all functions of government and find ways to consolidate and become as cost efficient as possible.

We must be willing to explore areas of regionalization and find ways to share resources with surrounding cities.

The council must be willing to set the policies necessary to accomplish the goals, give the city manager the authority to implement the changes, and hold the manager accountable in carrying out this policy.
