CVB Grants Available Release
Tuesday, July 22, 2003 11:26:03 AM - Middletown Ohio
The Middletown Convention and Visitors Bureau board of trustees has voted to begin accepting applications from local non-profit organizations with 501(c)3 tax exempt status seeking funds for promotion of their events and attractions. At a meeting held Tuesday, July 22, the board voted to establish a method to assist such groups in attracting audiences from outside the immediate Middletown area.

Grants will be given to cover only marketing, promotion and advertising expenses. Primary consideration will be given to projects that may attract overnight visitors to stay in Middletown hotels, and projects that will increase the number of visitors to a Middletown event from outside the Middletown area.

Only non-profit organizations are eligible for the grants which will be distributed twice each year. The first grant application deadline has been set for August 15, with a meeting to decide on those grants set for August 19. While the short deadline may pose a problem for some organizations, the CVB trustees felt it best to begin distributing grants as quickly as possible so projects scheduled for 2003 can benefit from the process.

Beginning in 2004, grant deadlines will be February 1 and August 1.

Those who have submitted grant applications by the August 15 deadline will have the opportunity to appear, for a maximum of five minutes, before the CVB board on August 19 during a 4:30 p.m. meeting. Grant applicants may make a brief presentation after which board members may wish to ask additional questions before making a decision.

Grant application forms are available by calling the Convention and Visitors Bureau office at 422-3030 or via email to info@visitmiddletown.org.
