East End Identity In Middletown, Ohio
Thursday, December 13, 2007 1:17:44 PM - Middletown Ohio

by Bill Rogers

Vice-Mayor Tony Marconi has been pushing for a new post office building for Middletown, Ohio for months now. His purpose behind this push is establishing and maintaining an identity for the rapidly expanding east end of Middletown.

Much of Middletown's east end lies in Warren County, and uses a Franklin mailing address, though it lies within Middletown City limits. The opinion of Councilman Marconi is that unifying the city under a single zip code would help to establish a stronger identity for the city and the businesses locating in that area of the city.

The United States Postal Service has agreed to a compromise; Middletown cannot have a new post office, and to change the ZIP code of the Warren County portion of the city to bring it in line with the rest of the city would require a majority vote of the area residents, but you can use a Middletown mailing address in conjunction with the Franklin ZIP code of 45005 now, or will be able to very shortly in the future.

Discuss it on the Middletown USA Blog Forum: Middletown, Ohio 45005

It would be nice to get the "address problem" on the east end fixed. We have customers and delivery drivers who are always getting confused and delayed because of the Franklin mailing address.

My understanding is that sometime during the first quarter of 2008 we will be able to use Middletown as the city and 45005 as the zip.

The Franklin post office will still handle the mail.

I've been using Middletown for my 45005 address for a little while now, and the mail is getting delivered. Is there official word about being able to use Middletown for the 45005 zip code.

No word yet. I haven't tried using Middletown, Ohio 45005, maybe I should give it a try since we are out here on the east end.
