From Judy Gilleland - City Manager
Hopefully good news for all of Ohio…Denise Hamet attended the regional rollout of JobsOhio last week in downtown Cincinnati, where Mark Kvamme, the interim CIO and President of JobsOhio, pitched the approach to a room full of business leaders, workforce experts, and community economic development officials from across Southwest Ohio.
If JobsOhio – the state’s privatized economic development arm – truly moves at the “speed of business” and fulfills its promises, we will see a booming Ohio – and a lot more jobs. But getting there will take a huge commitment.
Some of the main points:
-
We need to grow what we have
-
We need to go on the offense – with pro‐active sales teams that are out there pitching the state and their regions
-
We need to leverage private investment
What will determine the success of JobsOhio?
-
Net new job creation and payroll
-
New capital investment to Ohio
-
Return of Investment
Meanwhile, in a bid to attract new business, the state just announced that it may cut workers’ comp rates for those companies.
The state's job website, www.ohiomeansjobs.com, has a brand new look. Check it out!
