Supporters turned out in force on Tuesday July 26th to start the competition for being a guest conductor for the Middletown Symphony. The competitors are the director of the Middletown Community Foundation, Duane ‘Flash’ Gordon, and Monroe Superintendent, Elizabeth ‘Libby’ Lolli.
This first fundraiser brought people to The Jug on Central Ave. where they could order the normal wonderful burger and great fries while tipping Flash Gordon volunteer servers.
The weather cooperated, there were lots of servers, lots of socialization and laughs, and hopefully lots of donations for the Symphony. Flash and his crew greeted and smiled from 5 to 9 PM decked out in bright yellow t-shirts with the Flash Gordon logo. Amazingly, Flash was assisted in his fundraising by none other than Libby Lolli sporting a Flash Gordon t-shirt – this may be a cooperative competition!

Thanks so much to everyone who helped at the event and everyone who came out to enjoy a Jug Burger and frosty root beer. Yes, Libbie even lent a hand -- and we let her keep half of what she raised that night!
When the night was over, our volunteers in their "Flash Gordon" shirts had collected about $1,500 in tips -- a great start for our campaign to support the Middletown Symphony Orchestra!
