A fund raiser will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2010 for Lisa Warren, editor of the Middletown Journal and the Hamilton Journal. Lisa has been battling cancer for two years. The fund raiser is help with the unfortunate medical cost.

Never give up, never give up, never give up. At 2 a.m., when the chemo is killing everything inside you and you are in a hot fog of pain, resignation can be very seductive. You are tired, scared, sick, and the chemicals coursing through your veins also affect your emotions. But you must push through. Like soldiers facing a major battle, like Sully looking at the Hudson River from the window of his descending plane, like millions of people daily facing major illness, you can't run away. Hold onto your faith, your friends, your will to live. Never give up.

Dear Community Member:

Lisa Warren, mother of two, wife, mentor and newspaper editor, was diagnosed with cancer more than two years ago.

The battle continues today. Lisa is undergoing a new course of chemotherapy and is weak from it, and unable to work at the newspaper for now.

A benefit will be held in Lisa’s honor to help defray medical costs from 5:30 to 9 p.m., Thursday, April 1, at Ryan’s Tavern, 241 High St., downtown Hamilton.

There will be several opportunities at the event to give donations to Lisa.

In addition, accounts have been established at First Financial and U.S Bank locations. Donations can be given to the Lisa Warren Fund.

Lisa has always looked out for her reporters, editors, co-workers and those in need in the community. She never backed down to help those who needed her help.

It’s time for us to give back to Lisa. Please join us in helping Lisa and her family defray her medical costs.
