Middletown City Council approved a half-million dollar Police communication system replacement at its meeting Tuesday. This was approved despite the city's budget deficit.
The Police Communication system includes the department’s phone, police radio systems, and as other division controls including a new technology will soon be able to pinpoint cell phone callers’ locations.
A portion of the cost will be reimbursed through federal, county and state grants and discounts from cell phone surcharges.
