Aid to Hurricane Katrina Victims Relocated to Warren County

Warren County Community Services, Inc. is committed to providing services and connecting people to resources necessary for realizing their full potential for a quality of life in Warren County.

Individuals displaced by Hurricane Katrina relocating to Warren County to be near family and friends will find themselves in need of the basic necessities of life, perhaps for the first time in their life.  Warren County United Way’s First Call For Help’s Information and Referral Program, which is operated by Warren County Community Services, will serve as a resource to direct these individuals to needed services. It is expected that as families find housing they will need to acquire stoves, refrigerators, beds, and other household furnishings.  Warren County residents, who have these items in good and working condition to donate, should contact the Warren County United Way’s First Call For Help.  Your name, phone number and item(s) available will be placed on a resource list and you will be contacted when that item is needed.

            Warren County Community Services, Inc.’s Head Start Program has joined the Head Start Community Action Network in Ohio in responding to a call for help from Franklin, Louisiana, a community about 100 miles west of New Orleans.  They are requesting items to meet the everyday personal needs for families displaced by the Hurricane.    Items requested are:  baby wipes, formula, bath soap, deodorant, diapers, feminine hygiene products, lotion, shampoo, school supplies, T-shirts, toothbrushes, toothpaste, towels, underwear, socks, cleaning supplies, bottled water, and toilet paper.  Items collected will be taken to Highland County, Ohio for shipment to Franklin.

            Donations will be accepted in the Lobby of the Warren County Community Services, Inc., 570 N. St. Rt. 741, Lebanon, OH; Lebanon Head Start, 852 Franklin Road, Lebanon, OH; Louisa Wright Head Start, 600 S. East Street, Lebanon, OH; Helen Centers Head Start, 101 Walnut, Franklin, OH; and Happy Hearts Head Start, 10 N. High St., South Lebanon, OH Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
