On June 25th, Lakota's school board members approved of an inter-district open enrollment policy, allowing students outside of Lakota's district to enroll at Lakota. The process opened on July 17th, marking the first open enrollment for the school district.
Families who are interested have until August 3rd to submit an application. To apply, families may visit the Lakota Enrollment Center, located at 8735 Cincinnati-Dayton Road in West Chester, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Students will be notified on August 10th.
As per the open enrollment guidelines, there are priorities given to students during open enrollment:
- First priority is for students who have open enrolled in the past (will become applicable in the second year of the open enrollment)
- Second priority is for staff members living outside of Lakota's district but wish to enroll their child.
- Third priority is given to children with siblings inside Lakota's district.
- Last priority goes based on date and time of applying.
The cap for the number of students open enrolling won’t be set until the end of July. The final number will be dependent on class and building-size restrictions. The disctrict will only be adding enough students to accomodate the current staff; No additional staff will be required, so Lakota's expenses will not be increasing.
Ross Local School District is now the only remaining district to not offer open enrollment.
