Local Universities Start Classes
Monday, August 25, 2008 10:29:09 AM - Middletown Ohio
By: Tara Kunkle

Local universities and schools have been preparing for the kids to start back up and get back into school year. Miami University starts classes on Monday, August 25, 2008. This year the class size at Miami was far above the goal of 3,450 students. Other area colleges like Sinclair and Wright State University start on September 8, 2008.

At Miami in Middletown they believe that one of the reasons the attendance is up this year could be from the new bachelor of integrative studies degree program.  The campus is also offering more Saturday classes, online, and evening classes. Along with the new bachelor program is new classes that include the history of Asian art, modern Chinese history and a language course in Chinese.

Miami University is ranked 26th among top public universities in the country. They have also been spotlighted in the magazine’s “Programs to Look For.” Typically students at Miami take a linked course as a group so they can get to know there professors well. The graduation rate that is set at Miami University is 80 percent which out performs the U.S. News predicted rate of 68 percent.
