The Butler County Board of Park Commissioners voted unanimously on August 14 to place Jonathan R. Granville in the position of Executive Director for the Butler County MetroParks.
Granville, the former executive director of Erie County Metro Parks in Sandusky, will be replacing the outgoing director Michael Muska who had served in the position for 33 years and retired last Friday.
Granville was selected over 31 applicants for the position and according to Board President Jacqueline R. Parrish he stood out due to “..a proven track record for initiating partnerships and successfully obtaining grants and gifts to enable park system growth and development”
In addition to the skills listed above Granville, a 25 year veteran in the field of parks, has an extensive resume. Being a graduate of Bowling Green University he then served as the Special Projects Coordinator for the Hancock Park District in Findley Ohio and the Director-Secretary for the Coshocton Park District. Also through his involvement with the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association was instrumental in the creation of the North Coast Regional Council of Park Districts.
Granville is also a member of numerous professional, governmental and nonprofit organizations.
