Middfest Presenting International Art Show of Mask Paintings |
Friday, March 21, 2003 12:00:00 AM - Middletown Ohio |
Dennis Capps’ intricately painted masks shown at the 2002 Middfest International art display were so popular that Middfest organizers are holding a one-man show in the Middletown City Building April 27 through May 30. The opening and artists’ reception will be on Sunday, April 27, 2-4 pm in the City Building, One Donham Plaza in downtown Middletown.
Mr. Capps, a former Mason City School math and art teacher, will display two dozen of his unusual paintings using tiny dots of paint to make his images. The mask paintings are based on cultures in several countries around the world. Guests will see masks with ties to religious ceremonies and festival celebrations. Admission is free and open to the public.
Mr. Capps and his wife, Libby Birch Capps, have been involved with Middfest International for many years.
Middfest International is a 3-day festive event held in downtown Middletown each fall featuring the art, music dance, culture, history, science, food, religion, education, literature, film, sport, business and life styles of a country or group of countries.
Middfest International weekend with performances, foods, demonstrations and exhibits is October 3,4 & 5, 2003. For information call 513-425-7707, Email Middfest or visit their website
