Bill Edwards Jr. is working towards being a member of the group of basketball players in Middletown High School History. He needs eight points to join the 1,000 point club. His chance to do this is tonight when Middletown plays Colerain at home.
Edwards believes it is an honor to be part of a prestigious program like Middletown. Whenever he gets the eight points he will be the ninth player to do so in MHS history. The other players that have achieved this are Jerry Lucas, Archie Aldridge, Butch Carter, Mark Current, John Fraley, Chris Carter, Bud Bierly and Glenn Barker. Edwards was still able to achieve the 1,000 point mark even though he missed 13 games during his sophomore and junior seasons.
Allen Roberts another senior for Middletown also has the opportunity to get 1,000 points. He had 13 points against Sycamore on Wednesday night. His career total is 891 points. Right now Middletown has six regular season games left and at least one postseason contest. That puts Roberts at having to average 15.6 points per game to reach the 1,000 points. Right now he averages 14.4 a game.
