This Saturday February 21st will be one of the biggest basketball match ups so far this season. Middletown High School will be taking on Princeton. They are the top two teams in the Greater Miami Conference and the No. 3 second ranked boys basketball teams in the state.
Jack Gordon believes god had intervened when both of the teams are 17-1 overall and 12-0 in the GMC and were scheduled to play January 27th. It was canceled due to snow since school was canceled and the game would be postponed until the last game of the regular season. Middletown needs to beat Lakota West tonight and Princeton needs to beat Hamilton before the matchup on Saturday. The winner of Saturday’s game will win the league, have bragging rights in the Cincinnati area, and enter the Division I tournament on a lengthy winning streak.
When the game was rescheduled Scott Kaufman who is the Princeton athletic director signed a contract to have the sold-out game televised by Channel 19. That is a first in Middletown History. It will also allow high school basketball fans who are unable to purchase one of the 275 tickets that were sold to Middletown to watch the most anticipated games of the season.
