Second Annual Middletown Blues & Bikes Charity Ride and Show Event with a Free Blues Concert Featuring Tad Robinson is Set for Sunday, June 26, 2005.
Middletown, OH, June 8, 2005 – For the second straight year, Middletown will host the Blues & Bikes Charity Ride and Show Contest with this year’s proceeds going to the Middletown Center Parent Group of the Butler County MRDD.
“Registration will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with the charity ride leaving from Manchester Avenue in front of the Manchester Inn on Sunday, June 26 at 12:00 Noon,” said Shawnda Combs event organizer and director who will be riding her own Harley Sportster 1200 at Blues & Bikes.
“A $20 entry fee is required for all riders in the charity ride but the show contest and concert is free to the public,” said Combs. According to Combs, last year’s inaugural event included over 100 bikes and over 4,000 concertgoers.
Butler County Commissioner Greg Jolivette said, “It’s great when you can have a very popular event like Blues & Bikes that benefits the community and individuals less fortunate at the same time.”
This year’s free concert kicks off at 4:00 p.m. at Donham Plaza with Middletown’s own Gregg Clark & the Royal Blues featuring Jimi Stewart. The Sonny Moorman Group is up next at 5:00 p.m. with the Noah Wotherspoon Band taking the stage at approximately 6:00 p.m. Headliner and recording blues artist Tad Robison, who has 200 performance dates scheduled for 2005 including three European tours, is the featured act and opens his set at 7:00 p.m.
The event which is sponsored by McDonalds, Budweiser, US Bank, Xponex, Martin Excavating, Shipps of Fairfield, Busters Bar, and the City of Middletown will include seven contest bike categories. They include stock, custom, radical custom, baggers, sport/competition, vintage, and the popular peoples’ choice which spectators choose by ballot.
