From Judy Gilleland
The Victim Advocate program recently received a grant from the Middletown Community
Foundation in the amount of $10,322.00 to assist in restructuring the Victim Advocate program.
This grant will go toward purchasing a computer program and licensing that will help us “go
paperless” and organize victim information. The money will also be used to purchase a laptop
computer and an additional scanner for the advocates to use in the courtroom to assist victims.
As a result, the Court and the prosecutors will have access to victim information in the
courtroom. This in turn will free up advocates’ time and increase their productivity. Many
thanks to Dorothy Shuemake, one of our volunteer victim advocates, who wrote the grant
paperwork and to the Middletown Community Foundation for its generosity. I included this
information in an earlier update but wanted to echo the importance and thank the Community
Foundation once again.
