The Chamber of Commerce hosts a question and answer session with the candidates for Middletown City Council in today's election.
Christopher Amburgey is an incumbent candidate, having already spent some time serving on council after being appointed as replacement to an unexpired term. He is a former vice president of lending with the First National Bank of Germantown. Past president of the Dental Emergency Fund, Amburgey is also vice president of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Gary Barge is a 47 year resident of Middletown and graduate of the OWE program. A community activist and automotive repair business owner, Barge served on the committee for the cleanup of the hydraulic canal.
Bill Becker came to Middletown in 1973 as a police officer, and over the course of his career rose through the ranks to Chief of Police in 1995. After retiring from the Police Department, Becker served as Middletown City manager for two years until April of this year. Becker has served on many civic organizations in Middletown including Light up Middletown, Fenwick Festival, Middletown Knothole, Middletown Soccer, and is a volunteer coach at Fenwick High School.
Anita Scott Jones has lived in Middletown for nearly a decade, her husband being a Middletown native. She works as a college instructor at Brown Mackey College in Cincinnati, and has been recognized for her work in the community in her home town of Montgomery, Alabama. She has also served on numerous boards and committees in Middletown since her location here.
Lalisa Lawrence is another imcumbent candidate, she works as a quality control engineer at Faurecia in Franklin, an automotive exhaust systems manufacturer. Lawrence has lived in Middletown for nearly two decades, she has been active in the community working cleanup at Middfest International most recently.
Gery Lynn Maples is a 20 year resident of Middletown, and works as a lending specialist and mortgage analyst focusing on Guard and Reserve units currently deployed overseas.
