Middletown Convention and Visitors Bureau (MCVB) will be awarding grants to assist local non-profit organizations presenting events and performances in Middletown. Grants are to be used for marketing and promotion purposes targeted to audiences outside Middletown. Groups wishing to apply for grants should submit an application by 5 pm on February 2.
Dave Pearce, president of the MCVB said, “Our mission is to directly impact the Middletown economy by assisting local groups and businesses who bring new entertainment and hospitality industry dollars into Middletown. People from other communities who come here to buy admission tickets to local events, eat in local restaurants, stay in Middletown hotels, shop in retail stores or buy a tank of gasoline all add to the Middletown economy. Their purchases support local businesses and organizations and the taxes they pay on their purchases help the state and local governments. Bed taxes paid on hotel rooms support the services provided by the CVB.”
The newly reorganized CVB board made a first round of grants in September, 2003 which amounted to over $24,000 going to seven local groups.
The CVB board will make grant awards twice yearly—in February and August. Groups may apply for another grant, once all reports have been submitted for any prior grant received from the CVB.
A revised grant application form is available through the CVB office by calling 513-422-3030 or via email to info@visitMiddletown.org. Deadline for grants is 5 p.m. on the first business day of February and August.
Other services provided by the CVB include maintaining the local community calendar of events and meetings, supplying maps and visitor guides, encouraging planners to hold conventions and meetings in Middletown and advertising Middletown events and hotels to potential visitors.
