Middletown Firefighters Endorse Merrell Wood for Mayor
Tuesday, October 2, 2007 4:18:01 PM - Middletown Ohio
by Adam W. Lewis

With Middletown's coming November 6 open elections, one of the items on the ballot is the selection of Middletown's first directly-elected Mayor. Some of the candidates for mayor are former mayor Fred Sennet, Middletown City Councilman Larry Mulligan, outspoken community activists and Middletown City Council and School Board critics Paul Nagy and Nick Kidd, and last but not least community activist Merrell Wood.

The Middletown Fire Fighters Association Local #336 has unanimously endorsed Merrell Wood for Mayor of Middletown in the coming election. Mr. Wood was informed by Mike Tanner, Vice President of the Middletown Fire Fighter Association Political Action Committee.

Merrell Wood is currently chairman of the Middletown Park Board and serves on the City Manager Search Committee. He is also founder of the Sink or Swim foundation, a community activist group instrumental in the opening of Sunset Pool this summer, as well as Middletown Habitat for Humanity, and TV Middletown. Wood resigned from his position as Director of TV Middletown amidst controversy, but commented on the subject that he hopes people can look past rumors and instead focus on the good things he has done for this community.

I was so glad to hear that Merrell was running. Thanks for the fire department for the endorsement. Where do I go to help this great man get elected?
