Zach Stein is now a senior at the University of Kentucky. Just recently he placed third in the myartspace.com undergraduate scholarship competition. By getting third he got a $1,000 scholarship through the competition. This was developed to support artists as they develop their skills and careers. Myartspace.com allows artists to get unlimited amount of work done online for free.
Stein won with his piece called “Faulter” which was from his series of plastic bag paintings from the Web site. He is an art education major who has said he feels stress, and over thinking causes him to have a different outlook on a project. Myartspace.com has said that Zach’s paintings tend to be experimental in nature. He is an artist that is not afraid to test the limits of his materials.
Stein’s goal is not to place content in his work but to allow the viewers to find their own meaning in the work. It makes him want to do more just knowing that somebody is looking at what he has done. The award winning piece can be viewed on www.myartspace.com
