Every year Middletown High School holds a free Holiday Concert in the auditorium at the high school, and this year, that concert is tonight. MHS students from the high school's Wind Ensemble, concert band, and orchestra will take the stage to perform modern holiday favorites such as 'Frosty the Snowman' as well as classical pieces from centuries past.
The 55-member Wind Ensemble is directed by David Leisten, director of the Middie Marching Band which recently received first place in the Ohio State Marching Band Competition. The Ensemble has consistently received superior ratings from Ohio Music Educator's Association competitions, the highest possible designation.
Steve Jackson is director of the 55-student Middletown High School Orchestra, which, according to the district's website, is the oldest high school orchestra in the United States.
The show begins at 7:30 PM tonight, Thursday, December 13th, and is open and free to the public.
Last year the Middletown High School Orchestra performed an arrangement of music from the Pirates of the Caribbean series of movies. You can view that performance at Pirates of The Caribbean - Middletown High Orchestra.
