If you're a Monroe resident, you've probably heard of The Voice. If you haven't, The Voice is a forum featuring news of, for, and by the people of Monroe, Ohio. Mostly though, The Voice is just a lot of Monroe citizens talking about their home and the things that happen there.
The Voice is a product of MainStreetMonroe.com, a website dedicated to bringing hometown news and articles of interest to the residents of Monroe. Site owner and editor John Beagle makes his living from the internet through his other properties -- Rentacomputer.com, ComputerServiceNow.com, and CameraSecurityNow.com to name a few. When his neighbors asked him to create a forum where they could discuss the happenings in their hometown with others from all over, he couldn't help but oblige.
Over time though, The Voice has become more than just a venue for talk. Posters have joined together in defense and support of their community, on more than one occasion. One such recent occasion is when The Rockies Express Pipeline wanted to expand their line through Monroe. Voice posters rallied in opposition of the expansion, and successfully petitioned to keep the pipeline out.
The Voice has also become a gathering point for Monroe Hornet football fans. The Middletown Journal recently reported how Kristina Centers, username 'Sports Mom', asked for help on The Voice with decorating various parts of Monroe in support of the Hornets' upcoming semifinal game against Sunbury Big Walnut, and the overwhelming response she got. Nearly 20 people showed up to decorate in support of the Hornets.
