Middletown Mural Raffle Drawing to be held at Middletown Arts Center |
Tuesday, February 11, 2003 12:00:00 AM - Middletown Ohio |
Friday evening one lucky ticket will be drawn from all entries in the Middletown Mural raffle. The winner’s likeness will be included as a part of the scene in the first Middletown Mural to be painted on the downtown parking garage this spring. The $5 tickets are being sold to raise money to pay for the first of a series of historical murals in Middletown.
The drawing will be held in conjunction with the opening reception of the Downtown Middletown exhibit of artifacts and photographs from Middletown’s history, Friday, February 14. The opening will be 6-8 pm, with the winning ticket drawing at 8 pm.
The mural scene will be adapted from a 1914 photo of the spot on Broad Street where the mural will be placed. A part of the mural scene will include people, as they would have been dressed at that time in history. The muralist, Eric Henn, has agreed to paint present day citizens into the picture, dressed in period costumes. To select one of the people to be included, the organizers decided to hold a raffle which will also raise money to support the mural project.
To purchase tickets or for information please call 705-4000. Members of the committee are: Judy Bober, Kristin Forsythe, Sam Ashworth and Ann Mort.
