Today Middletown City Schools will be hosting a phone survey. This will be used to get the communities perspective on the second phone of the district’s facilities plan. The second part of the plan is to deal with bringing the district’s two middle schools and high school up to the state standards. This was started in 2003.
In an interview with Meagan Engle of the Middletown Journal Milt Thompson said this survey is about bricks and mortar. The survey will not be about the two emergency operating levies that expire in 2010 that equal out to be around $18 million. According to the notes the district’s first priority will be to remedy the situation of the loss of the expiring levies.
Thompson also told Engle that the district should be able to complete the second phase of the project with little or no increase in taxes for the residents of Middletown. They will not be starting the second phase of the project for a long time. They are doing the survey now in order to determine if the community’s desires are still consistent with the initial community survey results from 2003. |
