Middletown's Cottage Donut Shop

Middletown's Cottage Donut Shop
Photo And Story By:Randy Lewis

Since January of this year the southwest end of town has been home to an up and coming business called the Cottage Donut Shop. Owned by Larry Banks, an AK Retiree who lives in Monroe, the Cottage serves possibly one of the busiest intersections in Middletown, with Monroe and Trenton only seconds away from the shop, which is located at the on the corner of Yankee and  Oxford State Road.

Open seven days a week 5 AM till 11 AM the Cottage serves a lot of AK Steel employees and with hopes of the Coke Plant opening some time in the near future business should pick up even more.

The big attraction at the donut shop seems to be Blueberry Cake Saturday, caramel iced cake donut and the apple fritters that Lindsey Murphy, an employee at the Cottage, told MiddletownUSA are severed daily and that customers line up for.

Even if you don't live on that side of town it is worth the short drive to check out this relatively new business that offers some great donuts and coffee.

Great donuts! I take them to work and my co-workers rave. The apple fritters are wonderful! Cake donuts and twists are awesome. My kids love them, and my church does too! If you have not been to the Cottage, you have not had a good donut. The Cottage beats out the other donut shops in town!!
