By: Tara Kunkle
On Wednesday February 4th Middletown’s Pride in Action held an informational meeting. There were more than 70 people interested in helping to put a new shine on the city’s tarnished image. The mission is “challenge Middletonians to show their pride in the community through their actions in 2009.”
The initiative started by Sam Ashworth and Ann Mort started the it for a response to the Forbes.com article which named Middletown among the top 10 fastest-dying cities in America. They are trying to encourage Middletown residents to develop or participate in various community projects. There are many ideas for making the city better.
There could be a conversion of the old Middletown Regional Hospital site as greenspace, or improvements at the Interstate 75/Ohio 122 interchange. The street could be repaved. Mort has said that there will be less talk and more action. The goal is to make Middletown proud of itself and get Middletonians involved.

Why not author your own project and go out and get it done yourself? | 2/19/2009 3:44:35 PM | community volunteer | Kudoos to Ann Mort and Sam Ashworth for organizing this project. As for Ashworth and Mort taking credit, it's all about getting projects done and making this community a better place to live.....it's people like "outsider's comment" that are just interested in getting their name in the paper and what I call "padding their obituary" he did this and he did that...the organization of Pride in Action is exactly what Middletown needed to bring community volunteers together. |
