The Friends of the Monroe Lending Library believe it is important to comment on the misinformation printed in the Middletown Journal, Tuesday, August 15, 2006 edition. The editorial article stated ,"The Middletown Library system operates the West Chester Township branch as well as others in Trenton, Monroe and elsewhere". The Middletown Journal was made aware of this error and posted a correction in their Thursday, August 17th edition.
The Monroe Lending Library is not part of the Middletown Public Library. A group of Monroe citizens first approached the Middletown Public Library to establish a branch in Monroe. Due to financial constraints the Middletown Public Library could not offer Monroe this service. Hence the formation of our Monrow Lending Library that is totally dependent upon donations and volunteer help. There are no paid employees nor does the library receive any funding from the city or any public sector. The library has received IRS approval for tax exemption as a Public Charity. We wish to thank all who have supported us and who continue to do so.
The library appreciates the Library signs the city has erected at strategic areas in our city to direct the citizens of Monroe to their Lending Library. Thank you.
Moms and Dads don't forget the children's storytimes on the 2nd & 3rd Saturday each month at 11 a.m.
Comment from one of our patrons: "The library has a wide selection of good books and the books are easy to find. I have met so many nice people at the library while volunteering at the library". Krista
