The Middletown Planning Commission met on February 9 and approved a development plan
submitted by United Wastewater on Lefferson Rd. to allow the company to install two new
86,000 gallon storage tanks to replace the existing seven 6,000 gallon tanks. This improvement
will help United Wastewater operate more efficiently in the future.
Planning Commission also approved a development plan for the construction of a new animal
shelter by the Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) to replace their existing shelter. The
new shelter is proposed to be constructed on a 10 acre site on the west side of Cincinnati
Dayton Rd. between Hendrickson Rd. and Oxford State Rd. The new shelter will provide for
better living accommodations for the dogs and cats awaiting adoption, better space for
volunteers and customers, and will allow for greater capacity of animals for adoption.
Planning Commission also approved a dedication plat for the widening of State Route 122 east
of Union Rd. which will be forwarded to City Council for final approval.
