MIDDLETOWN PRIDE IN ACTION UPDATE

There are currently 155 projects on the ToDo List of Middletown Pride in Action.  Eighty-six have been “adopted” or are in progress.  There are still 69 project ideas that are up for adoption.

Following the public meeting on February 4 at which over 70 people shared ideas and offered help, the organizing committee gathered the ideas and the volunteer lists and are now matching those who have volunteered with appropriate projects.

Already, several groups are moving ahead with 2009 plans—some are annual events and projects, others are new efforts.

For example, American Savings Bank President, Fred DeBiasi confirmed that the bank will be relandscaping and repaving  around its 700 N University Blvd location.

A recent photography project to identify “1,000 Points of Blight” in the City of Middletown can already mark one off the list.  One downtown business location has begun to paint and fix up its building.

The Highlands neighborhood surveyed streetlights in their 6-block area last year and now those lights have been repaired by Duke Energy. Any other neighborhood can do the same.

Middletown Pride in Action will add all such projects to its “Bragging List” of items that improve the City of Middletown. We will periodically share that list and the momentum of this effort with residents and media.

As the weather begins to warm, outdoor projects begin to happen.  Keep Middletown Beautiful is organizing many of those projects including relandscaping around City Fire Stations and a redo at Sunset Park led by a group of local professional landscapers.

The Pride in Action committee has divided projects into 12 divisions, each division led by a member of the committee who will stay in touch with project chairs. Committee members are Ann Mort, Sam Ashworth, Maria Langendorf, Chris Papakirk, Marie Edwards and Jeff Michel.

To have your project on the list or to adopt a project or joint a team, send an email to RMort@cinci.rr.com, call 513-649-4506 or tell one of the committee members.

Let's get this straight.Just so I understand.....

"Pride in action" will basically do nothing but announce the success of projects completed by others and those which have been worked on for years or are the responsibility of the city or are improvements a private sector company had decided to make long before they were declared a partner with pia. Is that about it.
