There are many good ways to help make Middletown a better place to live and work. For example now it is possible to adopt a block or as many blocks as you want. This was made possible by Middletown’s new community advocacy group.
Ann Mort told the Middletown Journal that residents can pick a street and commit to keeping it in good repair during 2009. You could do anything from picking up trash, report potholes, start a Neighborhood Watch effort, and paint the fire plugs or anything that the block may need.
To get involved in this is easy. All the residents have to do is sign up through Keep Middletown Beautiful. Then the agency will provide specific information. You will also get some materials and keep track of who is taking care of which blocks.
As of right now there are more than 180 community improvement projects in various stages of development in Middletown. Mort said that Middletown Pride in Action is compiling a “Bragging List” that by 2010 should be quite impressive. There are 48 items on the list that are finished or ongoing and 67 projects that are currently without leaders.
