Sloan Henderson is only 16 but she is well on her way to making NASCAR history. At the age of 12, after being injured by her horse, Henderson's dad wished she'd find a new but safer hobby. He had no idea she would start racing or just how good she would be. By her fourth race she found herself coming from behind to win the Senior Novice Eastern Grand National Championship on a track she had never seen in a car she had never driven. After that, she was competing on tracks all over the country including Lowe Motor Speedway, setting records, winning races, and accomplishing feats that men and women twice her age are unable to do.
Henderson likes to win and isn't hesitant to say so. “I can't even describe the feeling I get when I am in the car on the track...nothing else in this world matters. I live to race. I love to go fast. And I love to win," she said in an interview. This is why Henderson feels she can take her career to the highest level of racing and prove that a girl can be part of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. In 2009, Henderson will compete for the Ohio State Championship at the Columbus Motor Speedway and the Kil-Kare Speedway. In 2010, she hopes to move on to NASCAR's Campers World Truck Series. By 2013 she hopes to be competing in NASCAR's Nationwide Series and by 2015, when she is just 22 years old, the Sprint Cup Series.
Sloan Henderson was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1992 and currently resides in Franklin, Ohio. Sloan is currently seeking partners to help her achieve her racing dreams. She also says supporting her will allow her to support her two favorite charities, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Susan G. Kormen for the Cure.
