Friday, June 06, 2008 2:59:09 PM - Middletown Ohio

by John Beagle

Tom Byers and several other members of the IUOE Local 18 - International Union of Operating Engineers were on site today on Cincinnati - Dayton Road in Middletown, Ohio. They are protesting against Bluewater Constructors, a non-union shop.

IUOE Local 18 encompasses 85 of 88 Ohio counties, four counties in Kentucky, and 2 counties in the Pittsburgh area. (Source: http://www.iuoelocal18.org )

Bluewater Constructions, Inc. is Houston, Texas based and builds facilites for natural gas pipelines, gasoline storage facilites, grass roots natural gas compression and other projects. (Source: http://www.bwc-houston.com)

Non-Union workers so what. Half the problem with OH is unions.

Well, MJ...

Please do me a favor on monday morning and drive thru the parking lot where bluewater is working and tell me how many OHIO tags you see in the parking lot....

Ive seen Florida, North Carolina, Georgia, Oklahoma and Texas, but not Ohio. Unless you count the Sandwich truck that goes in there in the morning... Even the guy that sucks out the porta-johns is from KY.

So the issue about problems in OHIO might be that fact that union members from OHIO want people from OHIO to be in there.

Well TB half the problem with Unions it they always think they should get what they want. Here's a secret in the real world you don't.

AK Steel showed you all that. Maybe it is time for OH to become a Right to work state instead of a forced-Unionism state.

Funny the sign says Constructors Non-Union, it doesn't say Constructors Non-Ohioans.
