Journal article about Principal Bobbitt at Creekview Elemetary having a drinking issue. He has been the principal at Creekview for one year and was caught in West Chester on May 3. Oops! caught again the same day driving under suspension. He is being replaced by the Assist. Principal of Verity. The school system doesn't discipline it's people after hours and off school grounds- so says Alberico, the district's "communication specialist". Now--- what to do with Mr. Bobbitt. Do we fire him outright? Do we give him a window seat to "shame him" and then quietly bring him back into the fold with a reassignment to another principal's position when the public isn't looking and has forgotten about this little incident? OR, do we promote him to move the problem up and out of the way? Well, let's see--- we've had the on-going wrong direction and poor performance issues under the Price regime-- we've had the thugs and criminals on a laudry list of felonies and misdemeanors-- we've now got drinking and DUI's among our admin. people-- an inept, non-existent school board-- overall., I'd have to say- Nice job!

Couple arrested on school grounds

MIDDLETOWN — A married couple was booked into the Middletown City Jail Wednesday, June 3, after the husband was accused of threatening his wife’s life at a Middletown City Schools building.

Rex Farmer, 39, of Cincinnati, was arrested and charged with aggravated menacing and inducing panic, both misdemeanors, after Middetown police said he showed up at his wife’s workplace at 10:45 a.m. at the district’s testing facility near Middletown High School on Manchester Road, threatening to shoot his wife.

Farmer, who did not have any weapons, was arrested without incident and no one was injured, said Middletown police Lt. Rodney Muterspaw, who added that Farmer was cooperative as police questioned him.

Farmer’s wife, Terri J. Farmer, a secretary at the district’s vehicle service center, also was arrested during the incident on a charge of obstructing official business, Muterspaw said.

Muterspaw said she purposefully told police a truck in the parking lot was not her husband’s. Muterspaw said she hindered police investigations by telling the officers that she had driven the truck.

High school students released early from school because of final exams swarmed around the parking lot where Rex Farmer apparently was waiting for his wife, who was testing inside the Manchester building, said Debbie Alberico, the district’s communication specialist.

“Luckily, nobody was hurt,” said Muterspaw.

Rex and Terri Farmer were released from jail on bond Wednesday afternoon. Both are scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. Friday, June 5, in Middletown Municipal Court.

Parent comment on the above situation:

So glad my child is graduating this year. No more of our children in that school .The board needs to look at the whole district and make some needed changes . What Mr .Newell told parents on the phone is no where near this story. He continues to sugar coat .Children allowed back in who have assaulted thier classmates ,Staff putting children in great risk WoW Middletown city schools have changed since we moved here.

But Mr. Bobbit is a minority.  They need him to reach certain staffing benchmarks, right?

The new super will be walking into a nighmare left by Dr. Stevie. Not only will they have to deal with the academic failure elements (proficiencies) in every grade level here, but they will have to deal with the criminal element, the staff behavior element, repairing relations with surrounding districts (Franklin), the Section 8 "disadvantaged student" element and the lack of parent support element. I don't envy the new person that is selected. They will have to be strong willed/disciplined , thick skinned, logical, communicative and persistent to fix this mess. Tough position to be in just starting out. The school board needs to be very careful on this selection if we ever want to see different results. Oh and as for Mr. Bobbitt being a minority and meeting the numbers-- all quotas and affirmative action do is prevent the hiring of the RIGHT person for the job which should be the goal for any employer.

OK- Today, after several weeks have gone by to let the situation quiet down, it is announced that Bobbitt will be the new assistant principal at Vail Middle school. In typical style, the Middletown schools have gone through the scenario- 1. the infraction and the name of the violator is announced and published. 2. the story goes away for a few weeks (months) and is allowed to die as to the public's interest. 3. the story is brought back to life by the paper with the announcement that the violator is now reassigned to a new position within the school system, not missing a beat with career nor money. This time, though, the public is not as infuriated as time has allowed the public to "forget their outrage" at the original announcement and has tempered their call for firing the individual. 4. the individual repeats the offense, but time has caused the public to be "less critical" on the second go around.(Actually Bobbitt got caught twice on the same day) The public employee survives multiple screw-ups this way and makes it to tenure and retirement. Ahh, ain't life grand in the public sector! Is this the type of person we want around the kids? Nice job, once again, school board, for approving this reassignment.

Wow what a poor decision to put him at Vail where discipline is needed. Bad bad move by the schools!

Does this man have a bad record as far as "on the job" performance?
In no way do I condone his transgression(s), however let's don't crucify the man and ruin his career over one bad day away from his job.

I know I would be in a bad way if I was judged this way.
How about yourself?

Spider the only concern I have is that they moved him to a Jr. High, where alcohol among some students may be a problem.  I would think that it would have been better to leave him at the Elementary level as an Assistant Principal.

Yep, poor record at Creekview. One of the principals John Sauter talked about "never being in the building". Ouch

He shouldnt even be here.
