In regards to the news today that Accurate Converting may lose its abatement is this the time to raise taxes on a struggling company? Or conversely should we be looking to eliminate more abatement?

arwendt--That is a good question, I am never for the raising of taxes.

Then again--this company has not performed as promised to acquire the tax break.
Why should others pay the appropriate taxes to subsidize yet another broken promise to the local taxpayer?

Note it was scheduled to expire at the end of the year anyway.

From what I can tell in the past, the city has been very undestanding of economic conditions and how it may be affecting local operations. Take Aeronca for example.  I don't believe they have met their original employment estimates.  But the city has continued to renew their tax breaks.

Hmmm...Perhaps it depends upon whether or not the big shots of the company in question are "FoMMF"!!!  (Friends of Middletown Moving Forward)
