Why would the FOP support casino's in Ohio ? I've read several investigative reports by different reporters across the state and so far no real connection has been found. (or proof thereof)
If casino's come to Ohio,my question is this,who would be working security for the casino ? I sort of get the feeling off duty cops would be the ones. Thats just my guess.
Any thoughts ?

I hope we get casinos. It makes no sense to go out of state to do what we could do at home. If Ohio accepts lottery gambling, it should not be hypercritical and make casino gambling illegal.
This is voluntary taxation the American Way.
PS. I don't gamble.

I see the casino's the same way I see the state lottery,lots of money exchanging hands but none left over for schools and roads etc. The lottery was created to help schools more or less but all you ever see are schools begging for money or emergency levies. The state can't even explain where the lottery money goes. So yeah,I'm against everything THEY are for.

In a Society has to resort to Gambling and Red Light cameras to pay the bills, we need to really reevaluate how we do things.

I hope they do not come to Ohio.. I would see the crime rate go WAY up if they did. I remember going though Vegas (I used to live in California) to use the bathroom at a 7-11 not far from the strip. They said they would let me use it, but couldn't since someone STOLE the toilet. It happened a few times and they decided to just lock the restroom forever. People would pawn the toilets for money (wonder what kind of pawn shop they went to). People there would even go as far as going to a pawn shop in a wheel chair, and leave on crutches.
Now, think of all the section 8 that will now be comming to Middletown :( I don't think we have enough police as it is.

viper- We had a completely different experience in Tucson, Arizona. Tucson has three casinos. During our time living there, we never read in the newspapers nor heard on TV, of the typical things that the anti-casino people talked about. No rampant foreclosures attributed to people losing their homes through gambling. No excessive crime attributed to the casinos. No extreme increase in prostitution occuring. No excessive divorces directly caused by casinos. Taxes were kept lower because of the revenue contribution to the city. Bottom line- we saw none of the "devastation" promised by the anti-casino group. Wonder how Indiana is doing on their crime, foreclosures, divorce rates, etc, since their casinos opened? Haven't heard anything that would indicate anything negative. Have heard that the area is developing and that the roads and the area in general is progressing. If true, isn't that better than what we have around here? Don't let these Puritanic, right wing, goody-two-shoes religious people inhibit progress for you. They want to keep the world like it was in the "Leave It To Beaver" days of the 50's. The innocence (and boredom) of that time died in the 60's. Thank goodness. JMO

Viper I have to agree with Vet. Having lived many years 5 minutes from a Casino in a state other than Nevada, there was no noticeable increase in crime to the average citizen. Also my parents live in a City that has a casino currently and there has been no noticeable rise in crime there.

Bring the casinos, but put them anywhere in the state, don't limit them to 4 cities...
