WASHINGTON (AP) — Some airlines are telling passengers that new security regulations prohibit them from leaving their seats beginning an hour before landing.

Air Canada said in a statement Saturday that new rules imposed by the Transportation Security Administration limit on-board activities by passengers and crew in U.S. airspace.

The airline said that during the final hour of flight passengers must remain seated. They won't be allowed access to carry-on baggage or to have any items on their laps.

Flight attendants on some domestic flights are informing passengers of similar rules.

Authorities say a passenger on a Northwest Airlines flight from Amsterdam attempted to start a fire as the plane prepared to land in Detroit on Friday.

I have a suggestion for the TSA....after screening as everyone is boarding put handcuffs & leg chains on everyone then escort them to their seats. Have an Air Marshall completely strip each person of their clothing, sit them down and strap them into their seats with a strap around the forehead pulling the head back into the head rest. Have a minimum of 4 marshalls armed with MP5's standing guard in each section of the plane. If anyone moves or struggles against the restraint have the marshall yell "terrorist" and open fire. I think this procedure would cure any and all threats. Happy flying !!!!!!!
