Just finished watching XQ special on education in the US. I see that the Washington Post pre-critiqued the program and was not complementary. Yes, it was a pep talk. You have to get their attention by making it interesting and even fun. But they didn't mention why all the net works joined together. Our youth needs to wake up to the fact that education is important to everyone. And in order to get that education you have to want it. The US needs to use all the new technology in a rapidly changing and advancing world to provide that education ... or we will fall farther and farther behind. We could fall into a third world slave nation because we are no longer leaders in science and technology.

Another thought … the first part of the program stressed citizenship … the importance of student involvement in their community, and also applying what they learn in class to real life experiences.
If Middletown’s adult population had that sort of citizenship ethic, the city might be in much better social and financial shape.
Citizens can expect to get a return on their efforts. But the majority of Middletown citizens are not paying attention to their own city’s demise and are making no effort to stop it.
