From December 20, 2010 Update from City Manager

Riverside Trailer Park
The City continues discussion with Riverside Trailer Park on code enforcement and abandoned
trailer issues. As you may recall, the trailer park is in receivership. The Trailer Park steward has
received demolition bids for removal of the abandoned trailers at the park. Under Ohio Law,
mobile homes are considered titled motor vehicles. Riverside is running into some of the same
issues that the City would have in disposing of the abandoned trailers… they do not title have
title to each empty trailer and therefore can’t quickly dispose of “someone else’s”
trailer/property. While the park reviews how to handle and pay for demolition, they are also
going to start work in early 2011 on the legal process to have the empty trailers categorized as
“abandoned” so that they can legally take action to remove them from the park. While this
preliminary work continues on the demolition bidding and removal work, the park has already
ordered painting of signs and removal of dead trees to start work on the code compliance
process. Slowly but surely we are seeing progress. We hope that the trailer park steward will
cause the work to happen rather than the city paying and not recovering the funds.

The sad thing at one time that park was actually really nice. We had to move my grandmother up here from KY when I was quite young in the mid to late 70's. The streets and trailers were new and the pool was always packed and fun. People went to great lengths to make their lots homey by adding traditional yard items. I drive by there now and just can't believe it.
