Last night they had Mort's pride meeting and a small sparse group attended. From the group of 16 people, according to the article by Richter, half were comprised of city employees or committee members. I guess the other 50,984 people in town had other things to do or are feeling a little "disenfranchised" by this group. The article reported that the empty chairs represented those that are "working on something", (whatever that's suppose to mean). The story also mentions a group calling themselves "Change Middletown For Good" and another called "Keep Middletown Beautiful". Mercy! We've got more "beautification" groups in this town than we do churches!!! Anyone want to start another one?? And hey!!! Mort said they're working on a PARKING LOT for Bicentennial Commons!!! Yes- a parking lot to accomodate the multitude of activity down there and to accomodate the huge crowds that have literally overrun the area!  Mort also wants us to "keep your mouths running" to promote the city because "this is really working". Now folks, if there are people in this town that are experts at keeping their mouths running, it's the folks connected with the city's upper crust good 'ole boy club crowd so we should all pay attention to what Mortimer is telling us. Reminds me of the bossy know-it-all, nagging aunt we have all heard about. Really irritating!
