Blue Grass Bands Sought for Hot Air Balloon Event in August |
Monday, May 5, 2003 12:00:00 AM - Middletown Ohio |
When the hot air balloons return to Middletown August 1, 2, 3, 2003, there will be much to see and do in addition to watching the colorful balloons.
One of the entertainment events planned is a “Blue Grass Jam” on Sunday, August 3 from noon to 2 pm. Three local bands will be given the opportunity to showcase their music as they serve as an opening act for the well known Danny Davis Band.
Those interested in volunteering their music for a 30 minute performance at the Ohio Challenge hot air balloon event should submit a tape or CD to Emily Harris, event director, or call 513-422-4551 or email Emily Harris.
This is the first year for the annual Ohio Challenge event in Middletown, an outgrowth of the very popular U S National Hot Air Balloon Championships held in Middletown 1992-94. Middletown has a reputation as a good balloon flying location in the US. Crowds are expected to visit the Smith Park site to watch the balloons take off and compete and then stay for the entertainment, arts and crafts, carnival and other attractions.
According to Ms. Harris, “This will be a good chance for an emerging local band to build a following for their music. We offer our stage to help entertainers succeed.”
