The Art Central Foundation is now accepting submissions for Street Warz a photography contest.  Many are familiar with the GOT ART! Projects which began in 2005 with the installation of art in the empty storefronts of the Art Central District of historic downtown Middletown.  Street Warz is an extension of this type of exhibit, but opens the competition to everyone, regardless of past experience as an “artist”.

We are asking members of the community to submit photos of the street where they live.  These can be taken with any camera (even your cell phone) and be submitted by anyone – there are no age restrictions.  Even if you have never entered an art competition before, we encourage you to find something beautiful, interesting or unique about the place you live.  “We hope this contest will get people to look at their street with new perspective, see themselves as participating in a creative process and show some pride in their community” – Sue Rogers.

Prizes of $100 each will be awarded in two categories: Best Amateur (someone who has never entered any art show before) and Best Pro (has entered artwork before).
The judge for Street Warz 2009 is Sam Ashworth, a local graphic artist.  Sam has lived in Middletown most of his life and has volunteered his talents to many organizations & events here in town.  His dedication to the city and his experience as a working artist will make him a wonderful judge for this competition.

The Street Warz exhibit will be installed in various locations throughout the Art Central District & will remain on display May 30th – August 23rd.  Winners of the exhibit will be announced Saturday, May 30th at the Main Street Art & Music Festival.

Entries for Street Warz will be accepted until May 3rd and can be made in a variety of ways.  For more information on the contest or how to submit, please visit artcentralfoundation.org  You may also call Sue Rogers at 513-422-4435.
