Police Chief Speaks out in support of Issue 7 |

I have been a member of the Middletown Division of Police for over 30 years and the chief of the division for over eight years. During my career, I have worked with our youth and our school system. I have seen our school buildings and the shape they are in. Falling ceiling tiles, faulty heating and plumbing systems and numerous other deficiencies all contribute to a climate which is not conducive to learning or teaching. I have also visited neighboring communities which have new and modern school buildings. These buildings are well equipped and built to accommodate today’s learning climate. There is no question Middletown is a good community to live and raise a family. We have much to offer and we are within an hours drive to all of the attractions of two major cities. But if we are to stay a good community, and compete with other surrounding areas, we must invest on our children and build them the facilities to enhance their learning environment. I firmly believe as the schools go, so does the community. Without the support of the community, we can expect our property values to decline and our entire standard of living within Middletown to decline. I encourage you to vote yes on Issue 7, so that both our schools and our community can remain competitive into the future.
Bill Becker, CLEE Chief of Police Middletown, Ohio
