Taxes may go up for Middletown Area Employees |
Thursday, December 18, 2003 6:28:48 PM - Middletown Ohio |
Middletown Councilperson, Laura Williams said Tuesday that she wants the city to consider a 0.5 percent reduction in the income tax credit starting in 2004.
Of all the council people, Ms. Williams would be the last person I would expect to hurt the little people who work in this city.
A reduction in the tax credit could increase taxes by 0.5% to all those employed in Middletown. This would further be a disincentive for companies looking to locate in Middletown. Especially if they are coming from a lower taxing rate area.
This reduction in credit would have no effect on residents who work out of the city and those who live in cities with the same tax rate (or higher).
